Double decanted about 1 hr prior and then opened further over the next 1-2 hrs which seemed about the right amount of time. Deep purple and ruby color. Blackberry, slightly floral, hint of cedar on the nose. Plum, blackberry, hint of licorice and pepper on the palate with 37-38 sec finish. Unmistakable dark Dr. Crane characteristics, aged yet tastes younger and fresher than its age.

Tried on opening but needed an hour of air to open up. Also gave it 30 minutes in the fridg which seemed to enhance the brightness of the fruit. Beautiful black cherry essence with great structure and depth. It was plush without feeling too extracted, elegant and mellow. I did notice that on this label they mention the fruit is from the Dr. Crane Vineyard. Second bottle from this label and both have been fantastic.

This is a beautiful wine in practically every way. Dark purple blueish red color that is dense in appearance with a pleasing nose. On the palate, dark ripe fruits, blackberry, blueberry, black cherry fruits, cream de cassis and some plum. The wine is perfectly extracted but not overdone, plush, full bodied yet elegant with smooth tannins. With lovely focus, structure and depth this wine is solid and I think it’s at a perfect drinking point now, but there is plenty of life left with this vintage. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard according to some of the notes that I have read on this wine, but I don’t see any mention of that on the label. A superior wine, I love this label. 97+/ 98 Points.
