Inviting nose of black fruit, cassis, vanilla, mineral and slightly tobacco. Palate is round, sweet, full bodied but a bit tannic. Monster second wine and great effort in this good vintage! Top quality of a second wine.

Monster of a (second) wine but this is so young. Blackish crimson color although some tawny color showing some evolution. Decanted and aerated for a couple of hours but that was too little. A 5 hour aeration for next bottle. Nose of blackberries, red berries and spice, leather, licorice and rocks. On the palate very powerful entry but so lush and tannic, full bodied and tight this wine should cellar for another 5 to 10 years. Reminded me of Angelus a little. Tannic yet long finish with spices and bitter chocolate and a perfect harmony. Just too damn young!

Chapelle d’Ausone 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon produce the blend. Like its big brother, the wine will be aged in 100% new oak for about 20 months. This is the debut vintage for Chapelle d’Ausone to feature a large percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the assemblage. Smoke, cassis, stone and fresh blackberry aromas pair with a medium full bodied, sweet, round, tannic, blackberry and chocolate finish 92-93 Pts

Quite dumb on the nose, closed. On coaxing some very nicely defined pure fruits coming through; quite dense and thick on the palate. Lots here - good acidity and thick tannins. Very good potential, lovely pure fresh fruit on the finish. 90-93.
