It appears there was a brief peak. Now, it's on its way down hill. The fruit is mostly gone and secondary flavors are on the rise. I didn't really enjoy it.
2/6/2023 note: I skipped four years, all the way to 2021, then opened one/yr after that. With each year, it gets better, though I’m not sure the dusty tannins that roughen up the fruit will ever disappear (such seems to be a French preference). Fruit is still good, just with the earthy overtones. Finish is dry and moderately long.
9/7/2017 note: Still pretty closed and tight. Moving drink window opening to 2019. 88 pts.

Proof wines can improve with age. In the 2+ years since my last taste, the bitterness turned to soft sweetness with a round mouth and more tertiary notes of cassis and licorice and a bit earthy on finish. Drink up!

Drank with a 90 minute decant, it offers a nice, rounded, mouthful of fruit.good balance, medium finish.
