Weekly tasting group RWP #331; The Netherlands and some extra's (@ BP): Not many notes because I have the impression the wine is not completely fresh. Slightly corked? Popped and poured the wine shows some red and dark berries, but on the palate the “cork” shows. There is firm acidity, so if the wine would have been fresh, it still is probably not too old yet.

A nice drinking bottle at a great point in it's life. Classic St E. aromatics, solid mid palate taste not too complex but very enjoyable esp. after 10-15 min decant. Underrated.

Decanted immediately prior to drinking. Excellent deep purple-red color with almost no sign of age. Pleasant nose of coffee and fruit. Nice dark fruit flavors but did not have the richness I would expect from a Saint Emilion in this vintage. The finish was short. Pleasant enough overall but nothing to get excited about.

Everything you expect from a 20 yr Bordeaux. Still showing well, but would drink soon if you have it. Good structure and exceptional balance.

Drinking beautifully without decanting or aerating (although continues to open nicely in the glass). Truly elegant.
