Mid ruby. Lots of sediment. Tough tannins, not yet tamed by time. Initially closed and not approachable. Needs plenty of air to soften. After four hours, started to open up. Still drying but can discern luscious fruit under those tannins. Still has a long life ahead.

This is a bit past it’s peak, but still nice. Baked cherry and some spice as well as pine forest sous bois on the nose. Medium-full bodied, with some baked red cherries, spice and some oak on the palate. Would have been better a few years ago. 90

(AZELIA BAROLO SAN ROCCO) #3; COLOR-dark w/ copper edges; NOSE-mushroom component, green & black olive, a cocoa powder aspect; TASTE-so well-made, silky tannins, very dry, beautiful integration of asparagus, fresh summer basil & beautiful cheese component; a little peppermint aspect that I don't care for, but I like this wine, Sour cherry coming through in the Hizzy on the finish; exceptionally well-made wine, elegant, structured, no flaws & polished, ; WS-91; GV-91+

Nicely matured. Tannins have pretty much resolved and the wine is ready to go. The fruit has given way to soy sauce and tar notes. Nice.

Very aged but still better with a good decanting.
