  • Auch 17 Jahre nach der Ernte noch sehr gut trinkbar

  • Mittleres Goldgelb, hohe Farbdichte.

  • This has not aged all that well in the past decade. Still good, very solid, but it does not seem to have improved at all. The nose had that typical SB whiff of green and cat’s pee alongside notes of stone fruit and ripe gooseberries, and then that nice streak of minerally aromas that I remember liking from the past. The palate was deep and broad, was muscular notes of stone fruit lined with citrus lime acidity and then a spicy mineral undertow that pulled the wine into a long, powerful finish. Solid, if lacking an ounce of nuance and complexity.

  • Classic nose of bell pepper, gooseberry, citrus, and minerals. Great acidity with stone fruit, apricot, lemon, and rich texture on the palate. Nice finish.

  • Tasted blind. From magnum bottle under glass cap closure. Drank slowly over 3 hours+.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of tropical fruits - rambutans, mangoes, sweet honeydew melons, honey, sun-baked slate minerality, hints of funky earth. Developing. Only after 2+ hours of air, the gooseberry aromas started to manifest and reveal the SB character.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet honey cream, tropical mangoes, honeydew melons, passionfruit. Gooseberries with more air. Undertone of slate minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. I was initially guessing Alsace Pinot Gris, but with more air the character of a ripe Sauvignon Blanc was more obvious. Can still age a long time, especially if in magnum bottle.
Spends 18 months on lees. Aged in large oak barrels.
