Community Tasting Notes (16) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Decanted and drank over an hour. Deep ruby red, not showing any tawny or browning at the rim, more like a 1990s. Mature nose of perfumed cassis, black currants, cigar leaves, secondary and tertiary aromas typical of 1982 left bank. On the palate definitely gains volume with decanting, refined entry on the palate with dark red and black fruit dominant, flowery cassis notes, not the most dynamic mid palate and finishes with a slight sweet note decent length and ethereal. Really lovely.

  • Same as previous bottles. Deep ruby red, hardly showing it’s 40 year age more like a 25 year old. Needs decanting and aeration to gain weight whilst giving the false impression early on that it is light bodied and will fade in the decanter. Nonetheless, the wine is light to medium bodied, a nose so 82 of cigar leaves, black currants, and that blend of aromas I can’t put my finger on typical only of the vintage. After an hour in the decanter, the wine is quite nice, opulent but not fat, refined, with tannins fully resolved and a nice finish. Not the best 82 out there, but still an 82 and that commands respect in my book. Succulent finish.

  • Cork was too soft so had to filter the wine. Deep ruby color very youthful for a 40 year old! One thing that amazes me about 1982 is now delineated the nose is. Cigar leaves, cigar Ash, lots of dark and black fruits mainly currants. On the palate very delicate, starts a bit too light then gains weight with aeration in the decanter. Very nice mid palate, good bit of acidity left to carry the fully resolved tannins into a decent finish.

  • Still fresh. Tannins have melted, the acidity is there but balanced. Cedar, tomato leaf, savoury, prunes, graphite and chocolate aromas. Long finish. Fully mature. Don't see how this could improve. Very nice.
