Medium ruby. Menthol aromas. Medium weight. Fairly supple entry of herbs, black fruit, and soil. Much more mineral than the Barthod tasted alongside it, and more tannic as well, but not fiercely so. Not entirely ready yet, but a very poised, balanced, elegant, rather gentle Clos Vougeot with excellent potential.

France 2011 - Côte d'Or; 7/8/2011-7/13/2011 (Beaune): Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. This wasn’t as expressive as the VR Beaux Monts but gave subtle hints of red and black pinot fruit with a good amount of spicy oak. It the mouth it’s tightly would but still showed its earthy, spicy and rich fruit profile. Great acidity and well-built tannins. A bit hard to judge at this point for me but I think there is a lot of potential here. (90-94?).
