  • Surprisingly similar to my previous bottle twelve years ago, though starting to fade ever so slightly cf that one. Relatively rich, slightly creamy nose with spice and mineralty. Nose follows through to palate with addition of orange rind, all spice, more minerality, lovely weight and a long finish. A slightly cheesy edge to the minerality starting to show. Still very drinkable, but starting on the downslope I think.***1/2

  • Best bottle of this to date. Ripe, rich nose, slightly creamy, rich nose with spice and mineralty. Nose follows through to palate with addition of orange rind, all spice, more minerality, lovely weight and a long finish. Following Phil's recent suggestion for Austrian whites I decanted this an hour ahead of time and it certainly seems to have helped this show to its best. Really lovely wine and a nice match for sea bream with gratin dauphinoise. ****

  • Having had a dodgy bottle of this yesterday I happened to have another bottle in the fridge, so opened it to make sure I hadn't been imagining things yesterday. Fresh clean nose, a hint of spice and mineral but non of yesterday's high-toned cheesy yuck. Ripe rounded palate with good minerality. Lovely food wine and easy to drink on its own. Good ***

  • Durham Offline (Bistro 21, Durham): My bottle, so not blind. Uurgh, this nose is horrible, and off - very spicy, lactic, cheesey not. Not right. Palate ok, about 80% how it should be. Once past the nose this bottle is **, but this is not right.

  • Pale, neutral nose, hardly any scent. Nicely rounded palate with a touch of ripeness, seemingly sweetness, on the mid-palate, before a long dry finish. Very mineral and elegant. Lovely and a good food wine. Subtle and understated, classy. ***
