PNP. A lot of sediment so I recommend decanting. Still quite young and primary. Grapey aromas coupled to cedar and vanilla. Rich, ripe and velvety mouthfeel, inky black fruits wrapped in some medium grained tannins and a long luxurious finish.

This went pretty well with BBQ ribs, brisket, and chicken. I preferred the 2016 Kilikanoon (lighter, less overt oak), while others liked this more full-bodied, heavier oak Cab better.

14.9% abv. Recent auction purchase. Previous notes suggest high levels of oak (nearly every note mentions something about it: chocolate, vanilla, "dark" fruits, oak) and this is a red flag for me, as I am not a fan of overt oakiness. Indeed, the oak influence in this wine places this firmly into the "egregiously over-oaked" category for me. There's hardly any Cabernet character at all here, even though it is still pretty hefty with (oak-laden) fruit. I just don't get the love for this style - if the Cab fruit is so good, why over-oak the hell out of it to the point that the CS character is wiped out? This could really be any grape and nobody would really be able to tell the difference. Tasted over two days, with little change (vacuum sealed overnight). I guess I'll be the lone voice of dissent - if scoring, I'd give this 84 - 85.

This was great. Better the second day. While missing the massive jammy fruit character of its Napa siblings, it more then makes up for it in savory characteristics. Sure there is some dark plumb fruit and baker’s chocolate. This was great but no rush to drink. This might improve
