What an outstanding wine; drinking great, super smooth like silk with a load of berries (including cranberries) some spice and herbs. Dehlinger makes a bunch of excellent wine and their cab is one of them for sure. Luckily I been buying them since the mid-80s so have a bunch but buying more at $80 is just out of my reach.

Erik's. Dark chocolate and sturdy blackberry fruit but otherwise one of the more savory wines of the night with a dash of sage and some bell pepper in the mix. Excellent now, but will improve with more secondary development.

Served blind. Erik's bottle. A bigger wine than is typically my preference, but I liked it (a common theme tonight, appreciating bottles outside my normal program). Dark berries, chocolate, cassis, bell pepper.

Hard to imagine a US cab in a better drinking spot. Perfect balance of fruit, tannin, some spice and herbs, well integrated alcohol and a chewy mouthfeel. Still inky purple with few secondary characteristics. Went perfectly with grilled NY strip and gochugang grilled wings. Wish I had more bottles. Tom Dehlinger (and now his daughter) has made great pinots and chards for decades but still doesn’t get enough credit for making great cabs in the Russian River valley (restrained and not sugar bombs) and being an early Rhone ranger.

A savory Cabernet, dry with sage, pine and earthy overtones, followed by blueberry and cherry, then finishes dry.
