Leo's Blind Tasting Group - June '16 edition (Back Forty West, NYC): Last of my bottles from a six pack I bought on release. Every one of these bottles has been fantastic, and this was no different. Still very youthful and fresh - several people had guessed this as the youngest wine of the flight. The citrus and pear fruit flavours here still seem amazingly youthful, and there's a faint chalky minerality beneath, as well as a higher toned herbal note that adds a fresh, high-toned aspect to the aromatics.

Rieslings, Riojas, and old fortified wines at Marco's (Milford, CT): Another very impressive showing. Fresh, pure pear and citrus fruit flavours tinged by florality and herbal notes, turning more savoury and briny/saline with air. Barely dry with a very faint tinge of sweetness on the back end as it warms up a little, but very precise and refreshing with plenty of acidity beneath.

Drinks at Grand Sichuan (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): Compelling as ever, barely dry and conveying layers of bright floral, saline and herbal flavours around a core of fresh citrus and green apple fruit. There's that elegance and delicate touch I so often find in Nikolaihof's wines, wonderful balance and while it's a little too light and dry to complement the spicier Sichuan dishes, this is really lovely.

High acid dinner (Rieslings, Riojas, Madeiras, etc) (Milford, CT): Lemony and waxy, with a slight quince note. This almost reminded me of a demi-sec Chenin Blanc. A nice citrus pith bitterness on the finish. Fruity and fun.

Great company, very short notes: Pretty nose. Quite floral, with ripe fruit; rich. Quite enjoyable.
