Similar to the other recent notes, this was not enjoyable on opening and decanting, an hour later, or several hours later. Even for an aficionado of very old wines, this seemed well past its prime. I corked it up and left it in the dark corner for a day. For those with a bottle of this still sitting in the cellar, the good news is that after a full day, this became quite drinkable, and even mildly pleasant. Perhaps a hint of fruit was peeking through, and the and unpleasantly “off” qualities I associate with old, spoiled wine had dissipated. But I’m like a reasonably decent old Barolo or Burgundy, there is no magic, and certainly not something that I would’ve expected. So, if you have some, drink up, but decant and then wait a day first, and you’ll have something to enjoy, even if for the academic curiosity.

Definitely some bottle variation here. This one had a nose of wet, cork or what I think of as been Buster Brown synthetic material shoes. Ultimately much of that blew off, and the underlying body and finish are exceptional. Despite the age, this wine definitely still benefits from decanting??

Cork all but disintegrated upon touch. Brown in color, raisiny almost armone taste. Interesting to try but this bottle was way past its prime and on the downward slide.

Color: dark garnet with brick Nose: burnt cherry pie crust, anise and menthol, bitumen, violet, and lots of things like old wood, balsamic vinegar and others pop up over time Palate: medium-high acidity, medium tannins that are still perceivable but in a shave way, balance is just beautiful and body medium-full. What w banger. There is chocolate and chestnut along with all the wonderful aromas from the nose Finish: long
Complex, long, in great shape except for the color. A wonderful p&p that however was great 5 hours after opening and th Day After. Drink at cool room temp. Thanks Bacchus for old nebbiolo and bavette
