dr.loosen started my love affair with Riesling about 10 years ago. I've also had the privilege of hanging out with him. So tonight I thought I would hit the cellar and pull a bottle to see how it's doing. This 2010 is still quite primary & is showing lots of sweet honeysuckle, with lemon heads, perfume, some mint & floral notes on the nose. About 90 minutes in and the nose is starting to open up a bit. Palate- oily & sticky with sweet honeysuckle, high acidity, some subtle lemon heads, lots of minerals, floral notes in a medium body with a prefumy finish. Still quite young, but damn delicious. I'm going to wait another 5 years before popping another one.
Pale gold. The nose is much fuller than the spatlese; intense and very ripe; very promising. Dense and sweet on the entry with a lingering spice across the palate. Weighty yet fresh and zingy with layers of sweet fruit; pear, peach, mandarin orange, apple and lime. Excellent.
