Coravin fun - 2009 Bordeaux & Random Burgundies (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Black plums, cream, slightly dusty sweet spice, touch of baked earth, a little blackcurrant and cassis. Nice nose. The palate is a concentrated version of the nose; dense, chewy tannins are softly textured, a sense of breadth. It's a little clumsy. Hmm too okay.

Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Black hued fruit; blackcurrant, plums, sweet spice a little prune and raisin, slight alcohol prickle, a little earth, slightly dusty, woody notes, cream, liquorice. Juicy, fleshy, black over red currant fruit, a little prune and very slight raisin, tannins are softly textured but drying, alcohol warmth on the finish. Okay.

Opened and left sitting in cellar for 24 hours before consuming. Absolutely splendid showing of a Margaux classic--dark berries, chocolate, warm cedar, loamy earthiness and a long, long finish. Really a great example of this appellation.

Last bottle and possibly the more disappointing. Somewhat vegetal but quite one dimensional and simple. Fine but not great. Edit: this needed 5 hours to show its true colours. Vanilla and black fruits. 88 upon opening. 91 after 5 hours. Smooth, elegant.

Dense, earthy and layered. Classic Margaux flavors and ready to drink with minimal decant. Very nice with prime rib at Tam O'Shanter.
