  • Lovely on opening for a relatively 'budget' bourgogne rouge wine. Sweet fruit and good acid with very little sign of tiredness. Fourrier reds in general are extremely reliable and consistently high quality in this era. Wine was still excellent 2 days later after air evacuation resealing. Simply enjoyable and yummy are my tasting notes. Probably have just a few bottles left of this one (must do that cellar audit one day). Puts a smile on your face, especially considering the minor cost some 20 years ago. Bought on advice from Ross Duke, via his 'winebank' mailing list initiative of many years ago (sadly a thing of the past).

  • Restrained nose of red fruit, dusty tannins. Not nearly as good as the motet from last night, somewhat unremarkable by comparison.

  • A little malnourished but still very pretty and somewhat sensual, kind of like Kate Moss I suppose. This is where the Kate Moss analogy comes to a grinding halt as the wine was very tight. After popping and pouring I decided to get this waif into a decanter and give it a vigorous splash around, this certainly was the key adding some calories to its frame and the aromas of smoky minerals, pine needle sap, cherries and earth became more pronounced. The palate has the strong acidic line of the vintage and tart cranberry fruits are joined by a little liquorice with air. It was very pleasant with a Moroccan quince and lamb tagine, but one senses is at least 3-5 years from really drinking well.
