  • It was a great surprise to us on how good this wine was despite being 20 years old. I recommend if you can find it.

  • Maybe the biggest surprise in this 2001 tasting. (Gevrey-Chamberin VV, 1er Cru Combe aux Moines from Magnum and normal bottle, 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques and Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru).

Very open nose with red fruits edged by a mineral touch and some asian herbs.
Medium bodied palate, very smooth and silky.
A bit short in the end but this doesn´t dims my enthusiasm about this really excellent village wine.

The wine is on its peak now. Drink it with pleasure over the next year.

  • excellent wine; color fairly light, but nose and flavors much more powerful than color would suggest; drinking very well right now.

  • No problem with cork. Medium garnet core, wide pale garnet, slightly orangeing rim. Nose is open and gives red and black cherry fruit, hints of meat fat and soil. Palate is medium bodied with juicy, sweet red cherry and raspberry fruit on the initial attack, fresh acidity comes through on the mid-palate as do meaty and rich soil hints with a note of decay. This is pure and transparent, fresh and vigorous but as already noted there is complexity and richness in the flavours. The finish is nicely extended with attractive savoury and mineral notes, and still just a touch of firm tannin. Excellent village wine.

  • Medium garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Pure red strawberry fruit, mineral edge, hint of meat fat. Medium bodied on the palate, pure red cherry and strawberry fruit, very transparent and showing good depth on the mid-palate with notable minerality, fresh acidity, then a hint of creaminess on good length, savoury finish. Beautifully proportioned. Tannins pretty much resolved if still slightly firm on the finish. This bottle excellent and still with plenty in hand.
