Great showing, consistent with the bottle I had a few months ago. Love the balance and the depth of flavour here - stones, flowers, fruit, herbs in equal parts all coming together seamlessly into a really polished, graceful expression of Riesling.

Popped and poured; perhaps a decant may have helped it but it still showed superbly. Stones, flowers, pale citrus fruit, fresh herbs, all coming together seamlessly on a frame that's lean but not lacking in intensity or presence.

Decanted two hours in advance, which I'm finding is the sweet spot for these wines at this age. A wow wine, just gorgeous on the nose. Bright and energetic, a real feeling of intensity and liveliness to the aromas. Fruit, stone, flower, herbs, cream - it's a complex and beguiling nose that shifts in shape as it goes. The palate comes off as less kaleidoscopic, and maybe it is. But it's also perfectly balanced and harmonious, and so all that's on the nose is just combining into this greater whole. I wish I had more of this, it's a great wine.

This is terrific. Tons of floral, melon fruit aromatics. Bright, but lots of flavor and extract. Best of all so supple, balanced, and ethereal in weight, just super pleasurable in all the ways a wine can be

Bright tropical fruits. Streaks of minerality on the finish. Roundness and viscosity of the palate perfectly balances the acid. Etched yet forgiving. It's beautiful.

(Alzinger Riesling Steinertal Smaragd) ($70.00) At first only the highest notes of its classic aromas. The palate is firm, cool, sharply detailed. All silver, sun on rocks, moon on rocks, almost a shriek of mint. It bores into your palate with its precise attack. Only on the finish does an herbal juiciness emerge, and then with air it grows more prominent as the wine opens its arms. Right now it is nearly supernal, but in 1-2 years I’d approach it with awe.
