(Hiedler Riesling Gaisberg) ($37.00) Again markedly dark aromas, char and bilberries, botrytis; it flirts with severity but offers enormous (if currently inscrutable) minerality. Feels like it needs seven hours in a carafe. Superb potential but backward – in bottle 17 days, which must be why it seems a little cranky.

Terrific match with foie gras. Combined minerality with just a touch of (appropriate) sweetness, and had nice finish.

Reminds me a bit of Frederic Emile with a bare kiss of sweetness on the finish. Some incipient petrochemical scents, lemon lime twist on slate, just beautiful.

Pineapple, faint petrol, rocky, clean, and pure. Better 24 hours later. Good acidity and has that citrus squeezed on rock thing I like.
