  • 2019 Hiedler Ried Gaisberg Riesling was nuanced and mineal-driven. Bottled under TCA-free DIAM-10 cork, the Kamptal Riesling was clear and pale lemon in colour. Welcoming aromas of tangerine zest, honey and white peach were accompanied with a whiff of gunflint and paraffin.

The dry and medium-bodied was accentuated by a high level of salivating acidity and a touch of spices. There were flavours of cara cara orange, lemon juice, apricot and flint in a long, zesty finish. The 13.5% alcohol was well-integrated. The empty bottle weighed 444 grams.

Detailed information about the vineyard and winemaking are provided on the winery website. The vineyard is situated at over 300 metres above the sea level with a southern exposure. The soil is heterogeneous, with free-draining marble and granite on the top of the slope, and calcareous slit at the bottom. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tank and raised on the lees for several months.
