Red fruit, cherry, a little strawberry, plum, dark fruits, lots of herbs, lavender and spice. Soft and lots of finesse on the finish. 50% syrah and 50% Sangiovese.

I had a Coravin taste of this wine, to decide whether to open it. The taste was sweet red fruit, cherry and strawberry, and the wine seemed light after the culty-syrah (plus my glass got cold outside at the grill). So I saved it for another night when it drank better, as the center of attention.
No score tonight but I would buy and drink it again.

Tasted in Vertical with 2010 and 2011 Le Croce -- Awesome nose, feel, and finish. Very enjoyable. The three vintages were similar but the '10 died in the finish, just kind of stopped. The '11 very similar to the '09 - another year or two should polish the '11 even more. I'm saving the '12s till they mature a little more - I'm sure the '12 will bring me back to these notes to compare. If you have the '09 I'd suggest enjoying it soon. The wine looks inky colored. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

Served just above cellar temperature, pop and pour. At first the typical sweet + green sangio nose filled the room, a bit candied which had me worried about the oak treatment, but it mellowed out fairly quickly to reveal more subtle cherry, vegetal, tobacco profile. Perhaps the syrah asserted itself? Big sweet fruit here - no confusing this with an old world wine. Round on the palate, not much acidity. Long finish with just a touch of green tannin. Happy to see the progression in the glass, I recorked this one and left the other 2/3 in the fridge for the next day.
Second night:
Served below cellar temperature and allowed to warm up. This was fairly subdued, mature feeling though not having fallen apart. Secondary leather and more subtle green notes were in the forefront, with the fruit taking on a more subtle tomato tone. The lack of acidity was the main problem for me here - maybe the vintage as well.
