  • Excellent Saint-Aubin, probably at peak. Paired nicely with grilled halibut "mediterrian style". Complex minerality, brilliant acidity with still strong lemon notes. Long. Do decant.

  • Remarkably good. Need quite a bit of air to show its entire complexity but already great after opening. I recommned a 1-2 hours of decanting. This is wonderful, sure to please anyone. You want minerality, you want Chablis-eque character, you want butterscotch, you want lemon curd, you want caramel, you want nutty, you want dark fruit, you want orchard fruit, you want brioche, you want mushrooms, you want underbrush......its got it ALL!. Its pricey but actually very good value for money. Can probably age for much more but I dont see the need to hold, fully enjoyable now with a bit of decant.

  • Butter candy, citrus and limestone mineral impressions in the bouquet, Same on the palate, s bit fat, a firm dose of citrus acidity and the first signs of getting really mature. Beautiful wine now!

  • I still remember when a long time ago, naive of me, I sent an email in English to Hubert in order to close a visit to the winery. His reply, in French, made reference to the fact that he was simply a humble vigneron of St. Aubin and that not speaking English did not deserve so many attentions. I tried to convince him with another email in Spanish, which as is known is how cows and horses speak French, but I was unsuccessful.
Nowadays it is a winery that produces 100,000 bottles per year and owns small plots with Grand Cru category. There is that.

Open bottle during lunch coming directly from the fridge. Cork extracted in two pieces (pictured). Colour of antique gold. Aromas of virgin wax, hawthorn flower, unripened peaches or generic citrus. There is not much precision but the complexity is not a foreign element. Moreover, when it heats up a little, those limestone mineral notes that are part of the personality of this winery appear. On the palate it shows an oily texture compensated by an acid finish that extends its length. Consequently, its aftertaste is markedly citric. En Remelly plot has the virtue of being at the intersection of the terroirs of Puligny and Chassagne but also has very often to pay the toll of being the largest terroir of St. Aubin. Good vintage with room anyway. Recommended bottle indeed. Undoubted elegance. Last glass, the better BTW.

  • Les Tontons Trinqueurs Tasting (Meursault): Walk around tasting from decanted 3L. Rich and complex aromas show ripe apple, baked apple, butterscotch, late summer flowers, nutmeg, and allspice with faint earth. At a perfect spot now, this is slightly more mature on palate, with just as complex a profile. Good weight, very good length. Great now.
