This is the highest score I've rated any OR Pinot. A balanced, satiny/velvety textured wine redolent of black cherry and raspberry, with cinnamon and star anise spice and hints of cocoa. Tannins resolving now, with great acidity carrying fresh fruit through a minute long finish. I could have mistaken this for a more modern, riper cotes de nuits easily - and one with a substantive pedigree. This is just now reaching peak, and I suspect has 3-5 years ahead of it. I am seldom truly wowed by a New World wine - but this one did it.

For being a 2008, I was very pleasantly surprised (I love Pinots but tend to prefer earlier in the drinking window). Still drinking quite well, which speaks to the caliber of Hamacher Pinot Noir. Light-to-medium color. Not as juicy as a younger vintage might be, but a lot of the characteristic spicy, dark cherry nose. Nine-year aging has brought an incredibly silky, smooth finish. Wish I had more in the cellar...

On the nose, bright red fruit (berries, cherry), leather, and baking spices. Abundant cherry on the palate. Medium-bodied, good acidity. Drinking well right out of the bottle.

Cherries and antique furniture, transparent and fully evolved. This was just fantastic and a bit of a surprise. So good but don't wait.

Drink now! That’s all I’ll say. Perfectly balanced. Hint of black cherry touch of tannins. Wow!
