Just way too much oak. On the second day , it softened somewhat and i think there is some upside over the next 5 years but probably not for the long term.

Consistent with bottles tasted 3 and 6 years ago this is tannic, oak dominated and essentially very closed, even following several hours open. Glimpses of an underlying wine that is smoky, savoury, autumnal forest floor and damp earth, citrus, cola and spice.

On the nose, an explosion of dark cherries and other assorted dark fruits. So, so lovely. Though on the palate, this is probably at least 5 years away from being anywhere ready to drink... Didn't have a choice - had to pop something for the coq au vin and I didn't have any other red burgs that could be sacrificed at that price point. Regardless, the lovely acidity and the fruit (behind that wall of tannin) leaves me confident that this wine will be a very good drink starting from 2025 (unless the wife uses up the rest for cooking before then).

Wow. This certainly outperformed my expectations. Cherry liquer, some rose. To my tastes, more red fruits than black fruits. Lovely.

Dark ruby. Dark red fruited but dominated very prominent oak, drying wood tannin and alcohol burn at 13.5% makes this not seem very Burgundian at all.
