[Redacted]; 7/10/2015-7/11/2015: Otherworldly. This bottle is the archetype of what we are chasing when we play the Burgundy game. Somehow, this has developed intense secondary characteristics while maintaining its freshness. The fruit has definitely faded a bit, but it doesn't suffer from any desiccation at all. Velvety on the palate with fully resolved tannins, this also shows a little bit of brown spice, iron, and damp earth. Nothing's overpowering anything else, and all the elements are in balance. There's some richness on the palate, but it doesn't become cloying thanks to the acidity. A little bit more concentration and power on the palate would push this into my ideal red Burgundy.

Pierre Ponnelle was Christophe Roumier's great grandfather. The wine was beautiful with elegance, purity and nicely attractive without being huge. Very pretty.

Great Older Wines at the Place to Drink Great Older Wines (Tampa FL): Another bottle perfectly stored 50+ years. Dense, dark and meaty with background spice. Long and powerful on finish. Kept getting better with more time in glass.

I thought this smelled a little volatile and raisiny, and I didn't find much of interest on the palate.
