Tasted blind, and on a hot summer's night. Dark plums and earth on the nose. Medium-bodied with dark fruits, licorice and earth, the wine has a filigreed acid profile, the oak has integrated nicely into the wine - well judged. Guessed SA shiraz from around 1995. Very impressive and polished. [CL]

From magnum. Ripe black fruit on the nose. Ripe black fruit on the palate too. But what a gorgeous wine. Completely approachable. Deep, complex black fruit with a hint of raspberry freshness. Very impressive.

Garnet. Nose was on the sweeter side-blackberry jam, but not as in-your-face as Oz shiraz can be. I guess age mellowed this a little. Taste was a mellower Oz Shiraz fruit bomb but again on the sweet side. The palate was good but a mellow and clipped aftertase. Good, not profound.

Dark, rich and aggressive black fruit on the nose, this wine defies my imagination of 'well' cellar aged Australian Shiraz. A down quilt of silky, full, ripe fruit texture and supple milk chocolate on the palate. Supporting the fruit with long, almost gossamer-like tannins, caressing rather then harassing on the finish, this wine is filled with charm, complexity and depth of character. There is a hint of refined sweet Asian spice, balanced nicely with ripe and very rich evolved earthy-decay and elegant fruit. I loved this wine, and it's perfect right now as the acid is still well in check.
