Ready to go once pnp. Clean color, ruby red, red flowers and fruits, medium body. Very enjoyable. So much better than 5 years ago. Drinking well now and can last quite few more years.

Ouverte 1 heure d'avance. Nez intéressant sur les fruits noirs mais je trouve cette bouteille beaucoup moins intéressante que mes précédentes. C'est très costaud, lourd. 89-90pts

Full, deep nose. Dark cherry, violets and hint of perfume. Sandalwood, spice and gun-powder. Quite oaky. Developed with a hint of barnyard, that just stays clear of bretty. Fullish, rich, almost creamy palate. Forest floor, pine cone, and dark fruit. Long and dense. Rustic tannins detract. Both vintage and producer style stays away from elegance. But generous and satisfying.

Dinner at Tonny (Tonny Restaurant, Geylang Lor 3, Singapore): Not a bad wine, but a touch lacking for a Grand Cru. The nose was a touch bretty I thought, with a hint of bandaid and earthy funk. Thankfully, this blew off slightly to show more classically Mazis notes of dark cherries, earth and spice, along with something rather sauvage and meaty. The palate felt really quite rustic, with powdery, woody tannins and soft acidity lapping up against a core of black cherries, dark berries and wood spice. Pleasant enough, but this felt a bit overaged in its softness and mature flavours, with some of fruit having a browning edge to them. It lacked some of the depth one would expect from a good Mazis as well. Overall, not a bad drink, but this was not a great Grand Cru by any stretch of the imagination.

Ouvert 6h avant. Nez délicat sur les petits fruits. Bouche est ample et soyeuse. Belle finale passablement longue. Très belle bouteille. 92-93 pts
