Final bottle from a half case purchase at auction in 2008. Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Still going strong, hardly any change from my previous tasting notes in 2016 and 2020. Immediately convincing nose with excellent complexity, full-bodied yet elegant palate with a firm tannic structure, rich flavour profile (currants, cherries, spices, cedary oak, earth, mineral freshness), mature and complete finish with very good length. Ready, no rush.

Last of 12, opened 90 minutes, perfect cork and level, edgier than last bottle in May 20 and fruit more muted, sense of starting decline. F (17.5).

Decant- followed for about three hours. Nose remained muted- mainly sousbois. Palate evolved to a delicious candied sweet cherry with some herbs, spice, and leather. Luxurious tannins mostly resolved with ample brightness. Seems a bit more advanced than the last bottle, but a great pairing with oxtail ragu.

Powerful and mature. Beautiful nose, long on the palate. Leather and balsa wood. Grippy tannins. Should remain at peak for a few years.
