Beef dripping and Marmite, cooked blackberries, burnt wood and a little alcohol heat on the aromas; the palate carries the same beefy notes, with cherry and cranberry added to the blackberries, fresher than the aromas and with less intrusive alcohol. This is in a fabulous place, a very fine bottle at its peak

First time tasting this wine. Was poured blind for me last night, and I was graciously given the final glass to take home so I could retaste it tonight. There is plenty of depth, fruit and acidity still very present after a decade, which makes for a tangy, dark and fruit driven glass of syrah. No fade at all. Charcoal, dark, rustic blackberry and black cherry. And my bet is that some portion of whole cluster was used in making this wine, as if I am correct, it's adding a spicy, garrigue note to the wine. Finishes with a peppery, rosemary feel along with an inky, creosote-like note and some bittersweet chocolate. Fascinating wine, delicious.

Decanted for an hour before service. In the glass, deep opaque purplish-black. On the nose, blueberries, raspberries, saltwater, and fresh ground pepper. On the palate, lovely aged notes between cedar and mint, paired with blueberries, stone fruit, olives, and a touch of smoke, with a long, clean finish. Like the '09 Jack Robert's Run, this is definitely one of those "if I had known, I would have grabbed a case" wines - the depth and complexity of the aged notes on the palate was a real surprise.

Lovely, aged, smooth and so integrated. A little tight and sharp at first, once it had opened up it revealed faded sun-dried berries, leather, tobacco, roasted meat in a long smooth finish

Still decent even though cork shows leakage.
