S$100-$150 open theme: Thought this was a left-bank from a cooler vintage like ’04 or 06. Lovely restraint and elegance, sensual dark red fruit that should have brought me to Margaux. Pyrazine notes became more apparent with air, liked the restrained and understated nature of this. Proper old-school Bordeaux.

Terrific from the get go. Decanted for sediment, with the aromas of well aged claret wafting out of the glass - potpourri, sandalwood, cassis and tobacco. Palate is still full of rich black fruit, more cassis and tobacco, and rustic and still grippy tannins. Medium bodied, a bit attenuated on the finish; there’s nothing dramatic or beefed-up here, just very classic and aromatically driven Margaux. Starts to fade after a couple hours in glass, so probably best to drink in the next 5 years or so.

Deep red colour with leather-toned brim. Nose is mature with notes of leather, underbrush and corints. Mouthfeel is mature, medium-bodied, with smooth tannins, nice acidity and notes of leather, black currants and underbrush.
Very classic mature Margaux here. Will not gain from further cellaring, but will drink well for several years more.

Superb refined claret. Cedary, ripe blackcurrant fruit, all beautifully harmonious.
