At nearly 12 years of age, this was quite nice, showing the combination of a dark firm core of fruit with subtle touches of floral nuance just beginning to take root. This has a notable brightness on the back end creating a slightly drying tension. The wine opened nicely after some aggressive swirling and more time. Drinking well already with underlying breed, this relatively lighter bodied wine has all the stuffing to age well. Holds real potential for further development, but pleasurable now.

Gevrey: Combottes 1er Cru and Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru (Chicago + Zoom): 02/05/10 vertical. Gorgeous, powerful, intense and layered nose with so much meaty spice. This screams Grand Cru Gevrey with deep, concentrated meaty black cherry fruit. Pure and lifted. Great combo of power and elegance. Long finish. Clearly the best in the flight (now and for its potential) and wine of the tasting, edging out the Dujac 09/10 Aux Combottes pair.

HDH Burgundy Auction; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (Chicago, IL): No fears about this being closed down -- this is just brilliant red fruit. Relatively open with such bright expression. Eminently drinkable, the deliciousness here is almost perverse. I'm not sure what the character of Latricieres is, but this is just off-the-charts approachable and delicious. Jacques Lardiere is the OG.

Gevrey-Chambertin Neighbors: Combottes 1er Cru and Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru (Chicagoland IL): Floral red and black berry with a subdued start, but this kept going and going and going. Somewhat reserved, but so complex and nuanced, this is 2010 at its best with sweet/ tart, dense/ layered combinations coming and going. So tasty already now, with further upside. WOTN.
