Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 88 points

  • Pristine cork, popped and poured. Moderate, fresh color tones, with no signs of advancing age whatsoever. Dark, rich, red fruits, and brooding aroma somewhat reminiscent of clove cigarettes. Rather lower acid (even with regard to the year) style than other producers bottling C-M. This would appeal to those who also enjoy RRV pinot, yet still retaining some Old World characteristics.
    13% abv. Weygandt Metzler Imports.

  • Ripe, dark cherry and plum on the nose and palate. Damp earth and a savory quality as well. Pretty floral tones. A good amount of structure on the backen of the palate. Drying. Medium weight and finish. Good acidity for the vintage as well. A lot more elegant than previous bottles I've had.

  • Starting to some brickish color on the rim but quite dark core. Still a little tight (not really surprising), it opened up after a little decanting. Lovely nose with dark/red cherry, other dark fruits, and a touch of oak (which get more and more discreet with air and evolves into leather). There's a hint of cigar box and floral notes. The acidity is pretty low but there's a definite Chambolle freshness and elegance on the slightly tannic finish. While the fruit is a little bit stewed, the wine never loses its balance.
I actually think this may improve even if this is not for the long term.
