  • Delicious CdP that is ready to go for my palate. Cherry and blackberry are matched perfectly with garrigue, stems, and slate. Plenty of tannins and acidity to continue aging and the color showed no signs of browning. Paired well with a bone-in ribeye. This is a fantastic wine and I am looking forward to the 2016.

  • An incredible amount of complexity in this wine, including floral/violet, blackberry, tar, garrigue, a touch of green stem. Only had a 30 minute decant before tasting. My rating reflects where I think this will wind up in 5+ year (98), which is even better than today (96+).

  • Exceptional, decanted for an hour. More Burgundian in style, yet still ripe and full-bodied. Garrigue, dark cherry, Christmas spices. Finish is still lively and effusive, not grippy or sappy. Will seek out more.

  • Very nice, if not quite as good as our last bottle. This has everything I love about the Rhone; garrigue, cassis, blackberry compote, gravel and a lovely rich earthiness. A lot to like about this, although I wish it was a bit more expressive. I think in 3-5 years this should be showing its absolute best stuff.

  • First off I will say it was a very good wine. Just not worth the price as I expected much, much more. That said..... Dark ruby in color. Aromas of blackberries, plum, blueberries and other stone fruit. Sadly, I found it lacked the tobacco, moss, leather and earth I expect from good CDP. On the palate (which despite a 3+ hour decant) came in a much weaker way than I expected, more blueberries, some tobacco, graphite, licorice and espresso. Medium acidity, medium tannins and lighter bodied.

Second wine of the Thanksgiving day was a 2015 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée. For roughly a third of the price, the wine, to me and my drinking companion, was three times better.
