Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): This bottle had been open for three days, but was still wonderful. All black fruit with slightly sweet Asian spice hints. Very good concentration and density. Seemed slightly warm on finish, so I would expect this best to enjoy on the younger side (now through 2025) vs long-term cellaring,

Ripe cherry fruit, savoury spices, meaty, earthy, slightly floral - lovely depth and complexity to the nose. Although obviously youthful this is surprisingly accessible on the palate and impressively combines power and elegance. Rich, spicy, very well balanced. The tannins are grippy, but round and well integrated and the finish is long and lingering. Quite amazing! 95-96+

Still young, but has tons of potential. Open it several hours before drinking. Enjoy!

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Spanish Wine (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): Popped-and-poured, I found this wine to be too extracted, too jammy and nearly monstrous. A few hours of air might have helped, and while I appreciate why others enjoyed this wine today, this wine represents why I buy/ drink so little Châteauneuf-du-Pape these days.

Tasting: I thought this was a Beaucastel. Fairly sweet, and tastes a bit like a port, with a very wide and complex palate. Very good.
