  • What a powerful yet balanced wine this is. Lots to like - black fruit on the nose and palate, a lot of fruit forwardness still 10 years after bottling. Nice tannins. Just a great wine that was popped and poured without decanting this evening. I've saved the 2nd half of the bottle in a 0.375 ml bottle and will finish it tomorrow evening. It will be interesting to see how it holds up but tonight, it's a crowd-pleaser. I forgot to mention some nice acidity which brings the fruit and tannins into balance. This is a great effort in Barbera.

  • Three hour decant, this is a luxurious experience, with a nose of dense blackberries and vanilla. The palate is big, with extracted dark fruit well in the lead over fine grained tannins and slightly tart acidity. A large mouthfeel with a longer finish, this is a modern statement of barbera that is well crafted.

  • This wine is gorgeous. From a QPR, this punches atleast 3 levels above itself. Complex aromas, depth and a finish that will want you to keep having more. If you find/have some of these, collect them.

  • Subsequent notes on this wine from almost two years ago. Deep, dark reddish-purple hue; basically opaque in color. Full, forward & attractive aromas of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & blueberries with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, with tar & minerals, dried herbs & exotic spices, licorice, some dark cocoa & hints of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs & spices, minerals, some cocoa & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing. Although it will hold onto its present plateau of development for several more years, I doubt any further development would occur from further aging. An absolutely wonderful Barbera well worth seeking out.
