A survey of Domaine Huet (Chicago, IL): Cursive label. A crazy, insane study in botrytis. Honey, marmalade, and apricot in a surprisingly dry package (despite its moelleux designation). Bright and sharp acidity helps counter the roundness, this is undoubtedly a legend in the making. Truly impressive stuff that I think has a lot of upside potential with further aging. Hard to believe that this is over 50 years old -- I've had plenty of younger wines taste far worse.

French label (as in, the one without the picture and Le Mont in cursive). Drinking far younger than its almost 50 years. The nose is complex and layered, with distinct apricot and marmalade flavours, as well as some apples and pears. On the palate, you get more a perception of sweetness than actual sweetness, and there is a gorgeous rounded texture as well. Tons of botrytis here. The one strike against this is the relatively short finish, but all in all, this is a stunningly fresh and beautiful bottle.

Started out lighter and more muted on the palate than I expected given the bronze color. Had some mid-palate body, but really fell off in the finish. There was one glass about an hour and half in that seemed like it was some mature fruit plus some of the minerality of the site. It was fleeting however. It is a good wine, but I had grander expectations given the site/vintage.

Drank with Richard Avery for his 50th
Bronze
Incredibly pure and youthful. Wears its 50 years very lightly.
Quite short finish as others have noted.

lovely but sort of monolithic... shut down phase? Needs some time? Lots of wool and some acid.. just expected more.
