  Tasted as a PnP and from a decanter. Started off with a nose of wet stank funk. Notes of earth, red fruit, even some plum, and tobacco. The finish was dry and tannic that occasionally hinted with a smoother side Well said by MerryBerry.

  Lots of extract, plenty of tannic grip, intensely fruit forward with plum and chocolate on the palate. Would have been yummy with braised short ribs but rather overwhelmed my grilled salmon. $41 at Bistrot Zinc in Chicago, seemed good qpr given that one sees more recent vintages @ $18 at wine shops. Note: first bottle opened was also overwhelmed by nasty cork taint; second one was just fine, something to note if you get this at restaurants....
