brick hue astringent forest and stewed black fruit nose; somewhat effervescent now with tiny bubbles, a bit past its prime but with enough fruit to stand up to the acids. Still a mighty Zin, well-balanced, mellowing in its old age.

Manages to be at once thin and heavy, with a super short finish that yet has a cloying sweetness and alcoholic burn to it. I do generally like this wine, especially with some age on it, but this right here is pretty terrible.

The bottle may have been corked, but this is nothing like I remember this wine. It had a slight effervescence, which wasn't unpleasant, just not characteristic of a Zin. There was light fruit, not a bit of jamminess, just not or big or as satisfying as I remember.

Bit tart. Maybe past drinking window.
Crushed cherries.
Acetone.
Raisins.
Lots of sediment.
