Deep ruby color. Smoky, plummy, herbal, sous bois, black tea aromatics. Cedary, sour plum, bouquet garni palate that's got a touch of tannin holding it together and a splash of brightening acidity. Finishes with a gravelly mineral notion providing intrigue beyond the tender, age-induced sweetness. Really, really nice surprise.
Time for a great Farmer's Market salad topped with roasted turkey breast and a 43 year old bottle of red wine. Great, bright, red color with a hint of brick around the edges in the glass, nose of raspberry fruit, touch of dust and weathered wood, more of the same on the palate, beautiful mouth filling wine, and ends with a great, long finish and aftertaste.

Bright plum color in the glass, lovely nose of tawny port, cedar, shellac, and faded black cherry fruit, more of the same on the palate, refreshing on a hot summer evening with Chinese food, mouth filling taste, 42 years young, medium body, soft, medium finish.

To my huge surprise this wasn't ruined. But very faded. Just a little stinky but fun to have a birth-year wine on my birthday.
