Charleston VII; 11/2/2022-11/6/2022 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): This wine really surprised me. It opened a bit musty and muted and I thought perhaps the CT score was right on and this was going to be more 'for science' than really enjoyable wine drinking. Decanted for sediment and really the more time it spent in the glass the better it got. Great structure and the fruit started to come out and it was a very nice wine that also happens to be a bit off the beaten path.

The nose showed black pepper, barnyard and dusty red fruit. On the palate I found juicy black cherry but with a mineral copper penny effect on the back palate, which truly ruined this wine for me.

Hints of age quality but mostly on the sour side

Way over the hill... it did have a nice bouquet of blueberries and forest floor though.
