Gentle and subdued. Well past its prime, with acid dominating. But still some nice black cherry and coffee flavors. Not assigning a rating as this was a drink by 2010 and its flaws are due to age. Would happily seek out a more recent vintage.

(Notes recorded here rather than create an entry for the correct designation: for Livingston Vineyards - Moffett Vineyard - Napa Valley - Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.0% alc.). Medium bricked red color. Medium intensity nose of bay leaf, olive, cherry, oak wood. On arrival, low-medium tannin and medium acidity; good lift. Tastes better than it smells, showing much spiciness and significant dried cherry fruit. Better with two hours air. Finish is sweet, dry,and of medium intensity. I enjoy this style of Napa cabernet: elegance and low alcohol, deft touch of oak, and having intensity which reflects modest yields from 20 year old vines. Paired well with oak-grilled chicken and a nutty, vinegar-ed red cabbage and brocccoli slaw.

Three Great Reds 1989 and 1990 vintages (Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, Ca.): Hi-Time Cellars Tasting, rich, fruity nose of Cabernet Sauvignon, medium/big body, touch simple, fruity taste, needs 2/3 years to peak, nice, pleasant, thick, long finish.
