  • Definitely won't get any better and needs to be drunk this year

  • 13.0% alcohol. Lighter-styled, which comes through in the lighter red color with faint signs of bricking, along with the lighter nose, showing a more berry-driven fruit profile, more earth and spice notes, and just faint whiffs of cedar and leather. In the mouth, the picture of elegance and purity, with beautifully layered fruit and earth notes. Still kicking with some acidity and tannins, but this wine is aging gracefully into a smooth, lengthy finish. Really nice. A-

  • Opened for Nancy's retirement party. Decanted for about one hour and poured for guests. Well integrated and nicely balanced with a very smooth and pleasing finish. Detected classic blackberry and cherry fruits along with secondary notes of saddle leather and freshly roasted coffee. Served out of a magnum and still showing bright, ripe, and juicy fruit. Sadly my last bottle because it may get better with age.

  • Not what I expected. Rather stiff. Didn't open up much after a couple of hours.

  • Birthday dinner wine. Shows a nice red in glass, with minimal signs of aging on the edges. Classic nose of grained cassis, coffee laced pencil lead, menthol/camphor and a hint of underbrush. Swirling agitation yields numerous glyceric legs and reveals secondary aromas of dark fruits and sweet black cherry. You need to swirl this to reveal the sweet fruit aromas. Harmonious balance on an echoing finish, showing cherry, tobacco, green olive on a smooth and polished finale. Minimal tannin, this is all finesse and elegance and is drinking very well. This was one of the first really nice wines I ever bought in the early days of my budding wine experience, so it's a special bottle and fun to reflect on how the past 10 years have unfolded, and how the cellar has grown too!
