A big, serious Cabernet-lover's Merlot, this Delectus is drinking beautifully right now. Ruby, medium (+) intensity, with very little sign of ageing. The palate is dry, but bursting with ripe red and black cherry. The acidity, tannins and minerality are medium. The alcohol is medium (+) to high but somehow is not really that noticeable, which is a testament to the wine-making skills and balance of this wine. The palate is consistent with the nose, with ripe fruit, milk chocolate and a smooth and luscious mouthfeel. It is drinking well now through at least 2018. Very good, although not a particularly good value in the high 60s and 70s.

Vintage Select Industry Tasting - Firehouse in the Heights: Another stellar offering from Delectus. Nose of plum, black cherry, mocha, and currants. On the palate red plum, black currant, black cherry, with spicy oak. Nice long finish, everything in balance.

Thought it was drinking very nicely Lots of complexity, tannins were subtle and fruit was present.

90+ Nice fruit, soft tannins, lots of cigar box spices. Had it by itself, but would have been better with a fatty ribeye.
