Pop and pour. A rather concentrated wine with a rich, expressive nose. Cassis and blackberry abound, meadow mint pops up then I got a layer of mushroom, cigar box and spice cake. The earthy flavors are more apparent on the palate, but fruit still dominates. The wine is quite fresh and the tannins well-managed–velvety with a delayed grip. Drinking well, now and no signs of decline.

Black fruits and a lot of wood leading to bitterness at the end of the middle part. For a Granc Cru Classé a rather poor showing in such a great vintage. Not the best QPR.

There are darker fruits and minerals on the nose compared to the 2012 vintage. Less sweet fruit but more spicy pepper, tobacco and smoked clove on the nose. This needs more time in the glass for the nose to open up compared the 2012. Palate is somewhat rougher and astringent at the initial stage than the 2012. Tight structure. Need more time for the elements to come together. Not as balance and easy compared to the 2012. I would say wait for another 3-5 years to taste this wine. This should last for 10 years thereafter. Overall less satisfying for me. 88-90 pts.

During a tasting dinner. This wine was brought to a tasting by a person who obviously is rather clueless what good claret is. Dark ruby, concentrated, commercial wine. Drinkable but aromatically uninteresting. International style.

More cedar, earth and tobacco here. Lively on the palate, entering into its maturity. Tasty stuff.
