  • From memory: Deep red with brownish rim. Modest nose of blackberry and pencil. Good fruit on the palate, moderate acid. Moderate lenght. Paired well with the roat lamb. Drink up within a year or two.

  • Very beautiful and elegant bouquet of red plums and baked tomato, hints of masala spices, old leather and smoked red pepper. The nose is completely open straight from the bottle. Palate is balanced, some sweet blue fruits, spices and leathery notes. As you draw some air into the mouth, the warm note of grilled fennel emerged. Smooth and seamless transitions from entry to finish, but it is also complex and elegant at the same time. The balance in the polished structure is the key trait for this vintage. Finish is smooth and deep with a 30 secs aftertaste. Ready to drink now and should last for another 5-8 years if cellared well.

Retasted in Dec 2019, wonderful nose and balanced palate remained the same. Still going strong and drink well with minimal decanting required now. If the palate is as deep and lingering as the nose, it would have scored higher.

Retasted in Mar 2021. The nose and palate remained the same as 2019. At its peak now and will continue to hold for the next few years.

  • Four years since my last notes. This wine has improved greatly with age but it's still not a great wine. It has developed some structure but it's still lean and the finish remains short. It's the poorest 2006 Bordeaux I have tasted to date. Thankfully this was my last bottle.

  • Medium body, bright ruby red color. Aromatic, black and red fruits, modest floral and woody aroma. Black currants, cherry, vegetal and mineral on the palate, chocolate hints on medium long finish. Rich, bold and juicy, silky texture, complex and well balanced, well integrated tannins and lovely acidity, easy drinking, elegant wine. Food friendly, best match is meat or duck or pilaf. Serve 20º - 22º. Open at least two hours in advance. Completely matured, drink now and next five/seven years.

  • Deep ruby hue with an expressive nose of cherry fruit and intriguing chocolate with blackberry/black currants that follow through on palate that is well balanced, perhaps a tad alcohol heavy and light in acidity but developing nicely, almost St Julien in the black fruit dominance - great!
