The last bottle from a small batch purchased in 1991 - it cost DFL 37.50 at the time. Level into neck. Mature but lively appearance, not bricked through, mahogany rim; the well-defined nose is immediately ready for business and delivers an amazing aroma of juicy Amarena cherries, roses and blonde tobacco, blended with slightly balsamic wood, minerally freshness and spicy depth; the palate is lively and fresh, supported by firm tannic grip, on the leaner side and with cedary flavours, but neither dried out nor tired; the tobacco and liquorice finish leaves the mouth dry but perfumed, very good length. A wonderful surprise.

Lovely old cedary aroma, develops aromas of black fruit and currants with aeration, nice depth, hint of chestnut, harmonious; gentle, smooth texture, balanced, sappy, slightly smoky, lively, nice tannic grip; good length. Fading but standing the test of time extremely well.

A wonderful Brunello, far too young ten years ago but beautifully mature and melting today. At peak, good weight, rich, pure and layered, wonderful balance, richly structured, marries power and finesse. Now - 2007.
