First one of these in almost three years. I am surprised at how well this has held up. Still intensely fruity, with velvety tannins that linger on the long, lip-smacking finish. Really delicious. Very easy to tell that this is an artisanal (yes, I know that term is very over-used these days) wine, made by a very small family-run winery near Poggibonsi. 50+5+12+17+7=91

Mostly purple, ruby showing on the rim. 100% Sangiovese shows right up on the nose. Ripe cherry and fresh herbs. Fruit-driven, but a layer of tea leaf comes through. Medium-full bodied and holding on to a nice tannic grip. Tomato, black cherry, slightly bitter. Nice, fine acidic structure. It has that cleansing effect of a well-steeped late-night tea. Really good, classic styling.

Consumed this from a 375ml at Casa Gala in Montecatini Alto. Very impressive for a non-Riserva both on the nose and palate. Loads of ripe, dark fruit, along with a good dose of leather and spice. This youngster is full-bodied, rich and quite fruit-driven, but still maintains a sense of balance - offering plenty of Sangiovese character. Has a silky, mouth-coating texture without being chewy and shows very good length also. Really delicious. Because of its fruit-forward personality, I would probably categorize this as one to "drink early". A beautiful Chianti and available only from the winery. Stopped by there two days later and purchased four 750ml bottles to bring back with me. 50+5+12+16+8=91

Mint, cherry, toasted nut, leather and chocolate nose. Fresh and flavourful, spicy and complex palate. Long finish with more spearmint.
4/5
