  • Complex, opulent primary nose of berries (blue berries) and a lot of oak. In the mouth it's a different wine much more restrained and rather medium bodied with a certain elegance, really pleasant. A lot of drying tannin to take care of, though. Long finish. My only concern is if the fruit will ever outlive the tannin? High scores if they do, if not...? Try in 5 years time to see?

  • Color cereza picota bien oscuro, ribete picota, capa bien alta y lenta lágrima tintada.

  • (Tasted at Berry's Spain 2014): Good balance of dark fruit, rich cherry and earth notes. Tanins are well integrated (esp compared to the Riserva) and big acidity. This is still too young, so lacks depth and complexity at this stage, though enjoyable and well crafted. Wait 5+ years.

  • Pago de los Capellanes "El Picón" vertical tasting (Monvinic (Barcelona)): Recently bottled. According to the winery to be released around 2015, the earliest.
Dark cherry color (by far, the wine with more color from the vertical), the nose offers a festival of red fruit aromas with layers and layers of intense redberries and black fruit, smoke aromas, underbrush, rosemary and intense notes of roasted coffee. On palate, the tannins are present, a bit aggressive without any trace of the 2006 sweetness. This wine is full-bodied, well balanced with medium plus acidity that keeps making you savor it again and again after every sip. Extremely young but dare to say enjoyable already. It completely covers the palate with a wonderful fruit and ends with a long finish. This is already good and it should be exceptional in the near future. Needs at the very least 5 years. Excellent.
