Decant 1 hour in glass. Deep garnet w/ bright brick edge in color. Nose of cherries, leather and red licorice. On the palate: cherries, tuscan earth, rose water and warm spice. Silky smooth tannins are perfectly integrated, perceived slightly on gums. Long finish of sour cherry, five spice powder and wood spice.

Top 100 Farewell Dinner 2015 (Rodwell House): (Tasted Blind): The mid-garnet colour; the bouquet is umami, with warm sultry notes, elements of tinned cherries, and salted liquorice moving towards an iron bru (rusty nail) follow through on the palate. Excellent concentration, medium-bodied, with a lively acidity, there is freshness and smooth resolved tannins, and it feels slightly sinuous as it slowly spirals towards a fabulously long finish.

On the stalwart side of Brunello, strapping and grippy. Smells and tastes like it should, with noticeable tannins making their presence known at the mid palate. Still young, and it should develop for three to five years and drink nicely through 2025. 92-93.

Obvious age on the nose, with figs and dates, good spicy complexity, warm and toasted notes. Full bodied, settled, yet still youthful with crisp acidic red fruit and Morello cherry, fine tannins. Lip-smacking acidity on the finish, fruit pips, spice. Very nice, complex, developed, supercharged by the take-no-prisoners acidity.
