Medium ruby with some bricking, brownish rim and viscous @15% abv. Medium clean aromas of cherry, hay, ground coffee, dried leaves, attic. Dry-slightly off-dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(-) ripe firm tannin, medium alcohol, medium(+) body. Broad palate of first blackberry, leather, pepper and in the back palate more red berries/cherry with spice. Fresh, almost croquant texture, good balance. Well knit together. Great length with peppery finish when tannins balanced by fresh acidity come out delicately. An excellent wine indeed.

Benvenuto Brunello - Toronto 2016: Like the previous wine this is quite light and transparent with some obvious bricking, though it's a hair darker than the previous. The nose is of rosemary, hay, dry dusty soil, dried tomato, dried cranberry, light roast coffee, smoke, crushed rock, and dried orange peel. Excellent nose. The palate has just a touch more structure. Great tannin and elevated acid. Just lovely! The finish is medium plus built on coffee and dried orange peel. This is another one that is remarkably mature, but just so enjoyable today in an elegant style.
